My name is Jaylah. I'm 14 and was just diagnosed with stage 2 endometriosis. It was found throughout my body. A 2cm polyp was found on my uterus too.
I had been experiencing symptoms since my first period at 11 years old.
My mum had endometriosis and ovarian cancer.
My symptoms were stopping me from being able to go to school. I've had many absences due to the pain, but also due to low iron from the amount of blood I lose.
I was hospitalised at 13 after having huge apple-sized blood clots exit my body. They couldn't do anything.
I've been on and off birth control pills, all it did was make my pain incredibly worse.
We tried a few before my surgery, but nothing helped.
My incredible gynaecologist didn't want to see me suffer anymore.
On December 16th, 2024, I had a laparoscopy and a hysteroscopy D&C.
It changed my life, and quite literally saved my life too.
I've noticed a change in my mental and physical well-being ever since I got the removal surgery.
I'm less tired and drained, and I'm happier.
I can do more things without my heavy periods and pain getting in the way.
My life was terrible when I was constantly being told that it was just heavy periods. Because it wasn't. It was something much worse than that. Something I don't wish upon my worst enemy.
I'm so thankful it was found.
