Researchers at Deakin University are seeking participants who are interested in testing a novel Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) program, adapted and designed for people living with endometriosis (ACTforEndo). The findings from this study will provide valuable insights into the benefits and usefulness of an online ACT program for individuals with endometriosis.

This study is supported by an advisory committee and has received Deakin University Human Research Ethics Committee approval (2023-206).

Who can participate?

You may be eligible to participate if you:

  • Have a diagnosis of endometriosis and are able to provide evidence of their diagnosis (such as a letter from a doctor, results of histology, operation reports, an ultrasound scan, or any other medical document confirming the diagnosis).
  • Are aged 18 years or older.
  • Reside in Australia.
  • Are able to communicate in English.
  • Have access to the internet.

Please note that we will undertake a brief screening for psychological distress (symtoms of depression/anxiety) to determine if you are eligible to participate in this study.

What does the research involve?

The ACTforEndo program is delivered wholly online, and consists of six self-directed modules, to be completed over six-weeks. Each module includes a combination of written material, video, and/or audio recordings, taking approximately 30-45 minutes to complete. If eligible, you will be assigned to one of two groups, either the Intervention Group or the Wait-List Control group, and be asked to complete a set of online questionnaires at the beginning of the program, six-weeks later, and at three-months follow up. Participants in the Intervention Group will also be asked to complete weekly module satisfaction surveys for six weeks and two satisfaction questionnaires. Participation in this study is entirely voluntary and you may withdraw at any time.
